EWB would like to congratulate the EGYPT Project for being voted as the new EWB Project in our list of existing projects! We commend the hard work put into the project application and presentation. We look forward to pursuing this project and again congratulate the Egypt Project for being selected!!!

At the upcoming Wednesday, November 3rd General Body Meeting (GBM), three groups will present their proposals for the newest EWB-Duke program.
Here’s the schedule for the GBM:
8:00-8:10 — Introduction and Description of Voting Procedure
8:10-8:30 — Philippines
8:30-8:50 — Egypt
8:50-9:10 — South Dakota
9:10-9:30 — Open Discussion and Voting
There will be Q&A following each presentation, as well as an open discussion before voting. The winning program will be announced on or before November 10th. This program will begin recruiting members shortly afterward.
Please read through the New Program Applications (links contained in the GBM schedule) in preparation for the Wednesday GBM.

Mr. Alan Kyerematen will speak to us TONIGHT (9/23) from 6:30-7:30 PM in Teer 115. Mr. Kyerematen was Ghana’s ambassador to the United States, Minister of Trade, Industry, Private Sector Development and the Presidential Special Initiatives, a presidential primary candidate in Ghana, and he’s the first chief executive of the EMPRETEC Ghana Foundation. He has over thirty years of experience with issues related to developing countries, and he can’t wait to speak with all of us! (and East African food will be provided!!)

Bio: ALAN JOHN KYEREMATEN
Alan has had a distinguished career in both the public and private sector
in Ghana and internationally, spanning over a period of over thirty
years.
He was a Senior Corporate Executive with a subsidiary of Unilever
International, and was also for several years a Principal Consultant and
Head of Public Systems Management with the Management Development and
Productivity Institute, a leading management consulting and training
institution In Ghana.
He was the first Chief Executive of the EMPRETEC Ghana Foundation, an
internationally acknowledged best practice enterprise support institution
for high-growth small and medium enterprises, established initially by
the
UNDP and Barclays Bank Plc. He was also appointed as the first
Director/Chief Executive of Enterprise Africa, UNDP’s flagship program
for
Enterprise Development in Africa.
Alan is a former Cabinet Minister for Trade, Industry, Private Sector
Development and Presidential Special Initiatives for the Republic of
Ghana
and before then was Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States of America.
He
has also contested as a candidate in the Presidential Primaries in Ghana.
Alan has an Honors Degree in Economics and is also a qualified Attorney
at-
Law. He is a Hubert Humphrey Fellow of the University of Minnesota ,
School
of Management.
He was selected by TIME International Magazine as one of the 100 future
Global Leaders of the New Millennium, alongside Bill Gates, John F.
Kennedy
etc. in its 1994 Special Edition.
